Cultural Trip

On March 24th, All of TY's went to Town, getting there by bus of course. We left in the morning after nine, i think! We arrived and got off the bus to go into the W.B Yeats Exhibition. I didn't think it would be too interesting but then as we got into it, it got some what interesting! We learned that he wasn't too good academically, being quite bad at Latin and other languages The exhibition was interesting and W.B Yeats life seemed very interesting. He was a part of a group who believed in tarot readings and cards etc. I found that interesting. We were allowed to wander around the exhibition and look at the stuff ourselves. The tour guide was good and gave a good insight into his life. We then left that building.

We moved into the National Museum and got a tour around the period of 'Mesolithic - Late Bronze Age'. It was interesting learning about that even though we learned it in History, it was good to touch up on it! We got brought around the different periods in time and then moved into the 'Bog Bodies' section and got to see a real life bog body, it was sooo cool and really interesting. I was stunned because it just was so hard to believe that it was once a person, was mad! After that we got to have our lunch.

I went to spar and got a chicken fillet and put into my roll, we then headed up to McD's and ate our food, it was grand. After that went to M&S and got their chocooo chip cookies, only the best cookies ever :D and then slowly walked back to the Museum to meet up with the rest of them.

After that we over to the Art Gallery and got a tour around the Jack.B.Yeats exhibition, W.B.Yeats brother, the artist. At the start of his career, he painted realism but at the end of his career, he was an expressionist. The change in his paintings were verrry different from the start to the end, was interesting to see the different categories. The tour was good and I enjoyed it.

Overall the whole day was very good and I'm glad I went.

Glasnevin - Holy Faith Sisters Play

On 15th of March all TY's went to Glasnevin to perform in their plays that were done in the Briery Gap in Meath. We left at 10:40 and got to Glasnevin to be greeted by Sister Susan. We went into the building and all, started practicing and got our stuff together, props etc. Then we got to go have a break and went to the local shop, Glasnevin is a nice place, I guess! We returned and went into the yard and talked to our teacher, then we were brought to do a quick workout and then let go to wander the grounds but then we went too far and had to come back. We did another practice and then got pizza:D it was deliciousss! I enjoyed it thoroughly, tehe Afterwards we began getting everything ready and started getting the stage together and getting into our costumes. Soon people started showing up and we had t go back stage and wait and wait and wait for our turn to be on stage. It was easy enough to go on stage and act in front of 60 people or more. Overall I enjoyed the whole day and it was fun!

Mini Company

On 14th March, we went to the Mini Company Competition in the Red Cow, it was fun enough but a very long day. Fortunately we got a lunch token and were given lunch for free. Chips and chicken goujons, it was alright, i guess! We were late as our bus was late arriving, so we had to rush to get our stand looking prim and fresh for the judges. As myself and team mates were getting the stand together, we had a judge approach us. We talked and answered the questions that were given while our stand was left have prepared. But soon as the judge left, we got our stand together and it was looking nice. In the end, we didnt win anything, unfortunately. It was a good experience anyways and I enjoyed the free lunch!

work experience

I went to Leixlip Veterinary Clinic. I can say i thoroughly enjoyed myself, it was such an experience. I enjoyed watching the operations being done all the preparation before the op's to be done. I found it very interesting and could possibly see myself studying to become a veterinary assistant, I would prefer to be a vet's assistant rather than a full on vet surgeon. I don't know why I would prefer it but I would, maybe it's the responsibility? My day started at eleven and finished at four. My lunch hours were between one and two. Some days however i might finish at two and then lunch till three. That didn't bother me as I was enjoying looking at operations or helping within the surgery. There was a chameleon called 'Patrick'. I held him and he was so cute, it actually made me want to get a chameleon, they seem very placid animals and enjoy being rubbed behind the head. He was very cute indeed. There was a cat who came into the surgery the week before I did my work experience, she had been pregnant and they had t do a scan to see if she was still pregnant as the girls said she seemed very bloated. She scared me a little because as you passed her she used to hiss aggressively at you, but once you petted her she was very nice. I wanted to go to the vets because I'm a lover of animals, I cry more during a film if an animal is dying than a human. :\ I've always had dogs in my lives since I was a baba, and I've even brought a stray dog into my home and homed it :) his name was Jimmy, he was such a good dog. I had a golden retriever, Cherie. She was the best dog ever, I had her since I was three but last April we had to put her down as she was getting too old and it was cruel to keep her alive in pain and being uncomfortable. I still miss her. So being such an animal lover, I'm really glad I went to the Vet's because I got to care for sick animals and all, so it was very fun indeed :D and would go ago again. All the animals were so cute and I enjoyed it so muccch.
