22nd November onwards ....

In geography on monday i was supposed to present my presentation but we didnt have time, so i'll be doing it on Thursday. In music we sang Winter Wonderland with Ms.T and it was really fun because she has a unusual voice but it's really good. I enjoyed doing music with her. In English we have a new script done thanks to O, and it's really good and it is alot more realistic now. In Religion we are doing the Waris Dirie book and it's very interesting because it's something that I've never been aware of before now. Today we also had double PE with David and Tom, i get so competitive and into the game, i find it really fun and can't wait for the tournament. In Science we were doing these experiments to show non metals and i found it difficult because so many different  chemicals were used but it was interesting.

School

On Tuesday we had double Tag Rugby and it's a really fun sport. There's a tournament coming up soon and some of the girls including myself have signed up for doing it. On Wednesday we had double dancing and it's kind of  cringey but it's fun to mess around as well. On Thursday we had double technology and we had to do our 5-page proposal for the F1 Car Competition. Not really sure if we'll get in but we tried anyways. On Friday in Home-Ec our teacher showed us this competition that's alot like Mini Company, Agri Aware wants us to come up with a new food product that will make things easier. We've also started our Mood boards so they should be done soon enough. It's really fun and doing the outfit was really fun. In English we sent off our script for the English Drama competition. In Science we were doing these Chemistry Equations. We had to balance out the equations among the elements I found them to be difficult at the start because it's something new and they looked really scary, except they're really fun to do.

State Laboratories

On Tuesday we all went to the State Laboratories up at Back Weston.  I found the trip to be very interesting and fun. Looking at the different bloods and bacteria was interesting. Although the Dairy Area did smell really bad. Everyone was very nice and pleasant so that was good as well. I was thinking and I could possibly see myself working in some area in the Laboratories. It was worth the trip to the place.

Mini Company

On Monday we all went to the Moat Theater  in Naas for our process in the mini-co. We all watched a 35 minute film on manners and such things. It helped a little! One of the members of our group had to talk and we discussed our product to everyone. Our product has been mad in D.I.T for free by one of the people. We just have to collect it now. On thursday in our double class we rang Kildare Enterprise again and one of the women found us a manufacturer so that is a bit of good news for us. We need to have all our things sorted, and be organised for the woman, Yvonne. So far our Mini Company is going well yet at the same time it's stressful when something doesnt turn out the way we want it too.

Work Experience

I finished my first work experience yesterday and I found it very fun. I went to Slim Slim Studio in the Health & Leisure Center in Clane. My supervisors were very welcoming and kind. Katy was my main supervisor but Peter thought me the massage techniques. While on my work experience I was on the Computer a lot, sending emails to various people, helping with the website design and sending text messages to clients and therapists and such things. I also was thought some Massage techniques for e.g. starting the massage at the lower back and finishing with the neck. Here is their website -> http://www.slimslimstudio.info/. At the moment they have great gift vouchers for Christmas and I helped design the page for it on the website.
All and all, I enjoyed my work experience

4th of November 2010

Next week we are doing our Work Experience and I'm going to a massage place in Clane called SlimSlimStudios. I am looking forward to doing the work experience because it will show me how life is like in the working world. It should be good fun. We are having a Work Experience Workshop tomorrow to help us with our experience. In Careers we are doing CV's. I find it really fun. Except it looks like I achieved nothing yet! I'm sure I will think of some achievements. In Technology we are entering the Formula 1 Competition and we've started our 5 page proposals. It's difficult because I've never done Technology and most of the terms used for the making of the car I've never heard of so it's a bit frustrating. My group and I in science did not get into the Young Scientist but we're still going into the sci fest, next year sometime. That should be fun. We're going to leave our experiments for a little while before getting back into them.

History & Spanish

In History we've been assigned our Christmas Project and this is what we'll be marked on for Christmas rather than a sit down test. We have to choose a place of historical significance that we'd like to research and look at it under certain headings. Another option that we can do is a Family Tree. I'm not sure which place I will choose to do but The Famine is something that is quite interesting and would be fun to learn about.

Another project we are doing is in Spanish, it is just a presentation with about fifteen slides and we're going to be marked on presentation, spanish used, skills etc. We get to choose from a list to do our presentation on, some examples would be Spanish Football, Spanish Food, etc. I think I'm going to do Spanish Painters as last year for Art a Spanish Painter Salvador DalĂ was incorporated into my project.

Geography

In Geography we have our fact file completed for our two countries, well some of us do anyway! We've moved onto doing our presentations, that are to be presented throughout December. My country which i chose to present is Kenya. I chose this country because my brother went there with a volunteer organisation for a month and thought the children basic English and while there visited many places. So when he came back it made me really want to visit Kenya. Kenya is an amazing place and is home to many incredible animals. I'm looking forward to doing my presentation because pictures are to take up the majority of the presentation so that will be really fun picking out the pictures to use and stuff.

21st October 2010

In Science we have been working on our BT Young Scientist Competion and we tried lemon juice under a UV light but unfortunately it didn't work so then we tried washing powder but again it didn't work. My group got a little bit scared when this happend but fortunately we researched it again and came up with lots of solutions. The next day we tried vaseline under the UV light and it worked. My group was so delighted, now we have to make our agar and take swabs of hands to see what bacteria will grow on the hands. In Home-ec we are nearly finished our outfits and we have basically everything put together now we've to start on our story board. In geography we are doing our projects still on our countries and it is coming along well. In Art we've been colouring teddies and I've found that really fun. In PE we were playing hockey and I really like it so I think I'm going to start up again. On Wednesday we went to Naas and we talked about our ideas and how far we have come in it. If we've completed our Market Research. My group has luckily. (: Today we had a talk from ACCORD and it was really really good. I thought it was excellent because there was things I didnt know were possible that are and I got an insight on alot of things in realtionships and such things. The facilitator was really nice. In Careers we were looking at CV's and it's made me want to go searching for a job but I'm so I have to wait another 4 months. Last Friday we did this workshop called Colour Me Beautiful and it was good. We were put into categories and each category had colours that suited that person. I was put into the Light category and navys and blues and pastelles and browns and nudes suit me. It's really good because I were all them colours as it is so I knew already. They also talked about different body shapes, I was an Hourglass. In Spanish we have a mid-term test, hope i do good!

In Religion on Monday we had to bring in a song which related to poverty; i chose one of Gareth Brooks songs. In Irish we worked on our serious and non-serious articles for our newspaper front page. It was fun. In History we worked on our powerpoints. My project is the Afghanistan War, it is quite frustrating as the war is very confusing. In Home-Ec we continued on working on our outfit and fortunately it is coming together quite well. All it needs now is the finishing touches. In Pastoral Care we wrote down a good method for a a good massage for your hands. In PE we played catch the flag and it was really fun. In History we continued with our documents and talked about the space race. In English we were paired with a partner and had to write about the partner as if she was entering the TY Big Brother House.I had Lauren T as my partner. She wrote lovely things about me and vice versa! In double PE the Leinster Rugby people came returned again and we practiced passes and my group we're the best. We played tag rugby. In double Mini Company, a man from NUI Maynooth came in to help us with our Mini Company project. He was a good help because he gave us loads of contacts. In Geography we continued with our projects. My Madagascar country is coming alng good. In Technlology our teacher helped us with the prototype of our product for Mini Company. Our teacher is a good help. In Careers we practised filling out application forms for a job. It was good.

8th of October

Today we had science and we have continued working in our groups for the BT Young Scientist Competition. We have written up our method and now all we have to do is actually do the experiment. I think it will be alot of fun. In Home-Ec we had a worksheet to do about Contemporary Fashion. it was interesting

Week 6; 4th of October - 8th of October

On Tuesday my group and I worked more on our outfit, the outfit is coming together fantastic and I like the way they have to fit everything around me as I’m the model for it. In pastoral care our teacher Mrs. K made a mixture of lemongrass and almond seed and we massaged it into our hands, it was nice. In art we are using ink and it’s really fun. In PE we played a tag game and I ran a lot! It was good. In History we looked at the remainder of the landing on the moon, it was very interesting. In double PE, the rugby people returned and we played rugby and practised passes, it was really fun. In music we practised our music chords again on our guitars. We had double Mini Company today and fortunately we got the support of Mrs. B for our Mini Company. In Technology Mr. W helped us with the prototype of the thing we want to make. In Careers we were looking at advertisements. On Monday we practised and improved on our English play. In Music we practised singing again, it was fun. In Science we started our project diary for the BT Young Scientist Competition. On Monday morning a woman came in and talked about our Mini Companies and see how the process was going on. Fortunately the woman said our idea was brilliant so that was good to hear.

week 6; geography project.

This year in Geography we have to do a proect on 6 countries we would like to visit and we have to record wht we would do when we get to the country. We were put into groups of three's and we have two countires to do each. I have chosen to do Kenya and Madagascar. I chose to do these countries as my brother went to Kenya last year and his stories are quite interesting and i would like to experience what he experienced. I chose Madagascar seems like a interesting place to visit and the pictures i have seen are lovely. You can do alot in these countries. In Madagascar in Ampefy a place 90km from the capital, you can visit a volcanic region with spectacular waterfalls and geysers. The people here build dams to catch eels. There are intersting islands to visit aswel when in Madagascar, an example of an island is Nossi Be and this island is ideal for swimming and fishing, with gorgeous beaches, lagoons and coral reefs.

I found this information here.

Week 5

On Monday 27th in music we did singing and it was really funny. The warm ups for warming up our throats were hilarious and I had tears in my eyes from laughter. We all sang together and then Ms.G split us up into small groups and we did the song separately in different harmonies it was fun. In English we are still working on our play. We have decided to do ‘But you didn’t.’ by Merill Glass. I am Chloe’s wife in the play! In maths we are making up surveys for the first years about what they do at school, at weekends etc. On Tuesday we had a half day, we had double home-ec and we continued working on our outfits. In mini company we are still deciding on something to come up with and it is very hard and slightly annoying. On Wednesday, I brought in my guitar for music and Ms.G tuned it for me and we began to learn cords G, D, A it was fun. Me and Kate went to town to get some home-ec materials. Today 30th we had double mini company and we still are struggling to decide what to make a company out of. In technology we are entering a competition and building cars which are made out of a plank of wood. In careers we are looking at CAO careers and PLC courses. It is fun and interesting looking at what I may like to do.

first month of ty finished

First month of TY nearly finished; & so far it has been really fun, I’ve laughed so much throughout it, :) On Monday the 20th of September we all went to Naas to the Moat theatre and discussed setting up our businesses in mini company, my group has a few good ideas for it but nothing is set yet. All this week is friendship week and in religion we had to make an outline of our hand and pass it around the room so everyone could write a positive comment on you, I got back a lot of nice things, thankfully, haha, also on Friday we are having a fun run, our colour is yellow and were all wearing yellow t-shirts. We have ade up a dance, and it’s going to win, definitely! Even though it’s TY it’s still very tiring. In science we are still questioning our one-page proposal for the young scientist competition. It’s hard work.

the third week

We’re now nearly through our third week of ty and it’s been great! We went to Carlingford Adventure Centre on Monday the 13th and Tuesday 14th of September, it was the best fun everrrr (: I enjoyed myself so much and was laughing continuously! I would definitely go there again. The instructor’s were really funny and cheeky, (: We walked so much and I was so tired when I got home. The water was absolutely freezing but so worth it, we did canoeing and I was in a canoe with one of the girls, it was really fun! Pier jumping was really fun as well. The food was lovely, the chips were gorgeous! The high ropes were really fun as well and we’re so high! We had to climb a giant hill and it took nearly three hours in the dark it was so worth the pain in the legs because it was really funny. On Wednesday we were all tired from Carlingford but nervous for getting our Junior Cert results! We were all called to the hall where we got into to our old classes and we’re giving them. It was scary but I was very happy with my results. We all went out to celebrate then and are now very tired from the night of celebrating, haha. On Monday we’re going to Naas to talk about setting up our own business.

the second week

We’re nearly through our second week of ty and it’s going well so far (: On Monday we had a Social Development day and that was fun. It took up the whole day so we had no classes, muaha ;] and the man’s name was Austin Dunne, he was nice. We started the day off with introducing ourselves and then we played various games like Chinese whispers. We were catergorised into groups by what type of personality we had. I was a blue but then I switched to green. The greens were called the ‘The Mediators’ and we were represented by a St. Bernard dog because we are pleasant and obliging etc  the day was really fun because we were with different groups and got to know eachother better. Still stuck on ideas for science, better get thinking QUICK.  for home-ec my group has thought of a great theme for the dress making. But it’s a secret, muahaha! In geography were visiting countries and looking at all the unique places about that country, Kenya is a country that really interests me because my brother went there for a month on volunteer work.
That’s all for now.
Chao Chaooo, (:

start of ty.... :]

First week of tyy over. Our class is called Amina, which means truth and honesty. We are the best. J So far I think it has been good, but in each subject we have a project to do. I think that will be fun to do and a good opportunity to work in groups and get to know the people in the class. The subject that scared me the most would have to be the Mini Company as there is a lot of work to be done and responsibility as well. I’d say it will be hard but also a good experience to do. For science we are being entered into the Young Scientist competion and I find it’s hard to think of ideas/experiments to come up with that could actually work. In home-ec, we’re designing an outfit and I think that’s gona be reallyy fun to do and I’m the model for it so yay :L Our colour theme is purple and we’re going to do the outfit based on “A Day at The Races.” Careers scared me a little aswel because I don’t have a clue what I want to do when I’m older  and that’s scary, muaha(:
